Mary Lou & Ernest Bock founded The Williams Gallery in Princeton, New Jersey in 1985. It was originally conceived to showcase artwork of family members, spanning five generations. It rapidly expanded so as to represent contemporary artists both within the United States and abroad.
In 2007 The Williams Gallery relocated to Davie, Florida and has joined forces with the Art & Frame Shop founded by son William Bock. Son, Jonathan Bock owns and operates a third gallery, Williams Gallery West, in Oakhurst, California. Our web-master, Douglas Bock is the eldest of the three sons.
In addition to traditional mediums including paintings, drawings, original prints, and photography, the gallery is now showcasing early work of some of the pioneers in animation art (Jules Engel) and computer art, including George Cramer, Manfred Moore, Barbara Nessim, Lillian Schwartz, Joan Truckenbrod and Roman Verostko. These artists have reached high levels of achievement and recognition in the ‘Computer Art’ genre.
Leading artists in the traditional areas of printmaking (etching, lithograph, mezzotint, wood block, and mixed mediums) include such nationally and internationally known artists: Hamanishi, Schmeisser, Tamekane and Weijburg. Known painters of merit include Bock, Buchholtz, George and Urban.
The related galleries here and in California offer a unique opportunity to select from a wide range of contemporary traditional and non-traditional fine art. This concentration of work forms a resource for avant-garde collectors, architects, interior designers and curators who require access to a broad selection of first-rank work by some of today's leading artists. The gallery can organizes off-site exhibitions and is available for consultation on the development of corporate and private collections.
"Our international collection of fine art focuses on artists from Australia, Japan, the Netherlands and the United States. We work directly with the artists featured in our gallery to insure that the artwork we carry is of the finest quality. We strive to learn as much as possible about the artist and to follow his/her career and development. Each piece of artwork has a story. We do our best to know and to understand the nature of the work, the artist's philosophy in creating it, and the way it fits into the art world as a whole."
