Myra Dorn
My first impression of the work of Myra Dorn was a vibrant explosion of color.  She puts her feelings on canvas fearlessly, with a bold, unabashed approach.  Myra's paintings include portraiture, landscapes, and genre scenes.  Her work is painted in a primitive style in vivid acid colors.  Although her pallette is intense, it is well balanced.  Her images are initially shocking,  but their intuitive sense of form, mark, and color result in vivid compositions that holds the viewer's attention.  Her works are emotive and also narrative, portraying scenes, people, and events form her life.  Each seems full of personal meaning, a window into Myra's perception of the world and the people around her.

Myra's work is mysterious, and slightly disturbing, but also contains a definite sense of humour.  Her figures are charicatures of the people in her world. Her vibrant color scheme and emotional brushwork reveal a bit of their inner selves, and a bit of Myra's soul as well.
Myra's joyful autumn garden.
