Toxic Spore
Clay, 15x15x8
This intensely colored clay vessel is both attractive and repellent.  Its acid red and green color, and its thorny walls warn the viewer that it could be dangerous.  At the same time it is invitingly organic, like a seed pod or a grain of pollen.  The piece consists of a combination of elements from traditional vases or urns, in particular the circular rim, and symmetrical form, with organic elements that bring to mind plankton, viruses, and other spore-like  forms from the natural world.
