Roy Holmberg

Artist's statement

I work with wood, steel, and found objects using lathe, torch, and coal forge to shape and mold materials into pieces which strive to capture the spirit of the Crasftsman era.  Manipulation of scale, and transposition of materials, are techniques frequently used to add interest and stimulate the viewer's imagination.  Some of my pieces incorporate recycled materials such as old rusty iron from farm implements, or neon discarded beer signs.

I find raw materials at yard sales and flea markets or cast on the beach during a winter storm.  The discovery of these treasures is as enjoyable  as putting them together and forming something to stimulate the imagination of others.

I find it very rewarding creating these pieces, and I hope that others enjoy them as well.

If you are interested in a piece using particular woods or special features, contact me and I would be glad to discuss your ideas.
