About the Exhibit

Included in the exhibit is a collection of photographs taken by internationally known photographer Allan Tannenbaum in November of 1980, while John and Yoko were working on the "Double Fantasy" video. Another artistic tribute to the legendary musician is a group of silk screen images of guitar players by multimedia artist and animator Jonathan Bock.

In addition, an exclusive John Lennon poster by Allan Tannebaum will be on view. Taken just outside the Dakota this image has become one of the most talked about photographs ever taken of John and Yoko. It is unsurpassed in its lasting emotional and historical impact.

About the Artists

Allan Tannenbaum
"John and Yoko: November 1980" is a series of photographs taken by artist/photographer Allan Tannenbaum 10 days prior John Lennon's death outside the Dakota building in Manhattan.

Mr. Tannenbaum is a highly respected free-lance photojournalist whose work has appeared in Time, Life, Newsweek, New York Magazine, Paris Match, and a host of other American, European, South American and Asian publications. Apart from being a photojournalist, Tannenbaum is a talented fine art photographer. His sensitive portrayals celebrate the essence of life, as demonstrated in this John and Yoko portfolio. Mr. Tannenbaum was the last photographer to capture on film, and in depth, the legendary musician.

A 1967 graduate of Rutgers University, Tannenbaum studied in the graduate film department of San Francisco State University. From 1973 to 1982, he was chief photographer and photo editor for Soho News. Since 1982 he has been affiliated with Sygma, the Paris based international photo agency.

Jonathan Bock
The alliance of art and music is readily apparent in the vibrant serigraphs of Jon Bock's "Guitar Player Series". "Guitar Player I" depicts the form and motion of the rock player, while "Guitar Player II" portrays the classical guitarist. The artist's images illustrate his interest in imagination, communication and music.

Mr. Bock received his BFA in applied art and art history at Indiana University in Bloomington and his MFA in art, filmmaking, video, and animation at California Institute of the Arts in Valencia. Most recently he created the Sierra game "Lighthouse" where he invites you to journey "to a hand-crafted world of exotic architecture, inventions and characters".
