Wayne Robbins
My treacherous journey up the canyon was rewarded by the spectacular
setting waiting for me at the end. At last I arrived at a secluded
spanish colonial style home. The approach to the house was a delight,
with a well weathered stone fountain, a stunning view down the forested
valley, an apple orchard, and a small herd of Llamas.
Wayne's glasswork glittered in the sun on a formal, but pleasantly rustic
stone patio complete with shady arbors, and caged tropical birds. Wayne
creates intricate fused glass miniatures, beads, and jewelry.

Many of his pieces reference animal forms. Fish and frogs,
and more fanciful creations like the humanoid figure pictured here,
make up a large portion of his work. His jewelry pieces are unique
combinations of colorful beadwork and metal accents and fittings.
Many are multi-layered, requiring close examination to appreciate the inner
details, or are covered with tiny fused "beadlets", adding a playful texture
to the surface.
Wayne was assisted at the show by veteran bead maker Jeff Rogers, who
captivated his audience creating intricately layered beads from behind
a protective plexiglass shield.
The beads pictured here are just a sample of Wayne and Jeff's intricate
and constantly evolving beadwork.
Happy, healthy llamas greet visitors at this beautiful
mountain retreat.
